After qualifying from London University in 1986 and receiving his ophthalmology training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Mr Simon Horgan is now a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
Simon specialises in macular degeneration and other retinal problems, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, cataracts, use of multifocal implant lenses, astigmatic corrections and general ophthalmology including watery eye and lid lumps.
He sees patients in Harley Street, London W1G, Kingston Upon Thames KT2 and New Malden KT3 and is available for consultations five days a week.
Mr Jacobs is our Specialist Consultant Clinical Lead for Glaucoma. He is a highly experienced ophthalmic surgeon having specialised in high volume cataract surgery. In addition to cataracts he majors in the management of glaucoma, within which his experience is invaluable in ensuring our compliance to the 2009 NICE glaucoma guidelines. Mr Jacobs uses his extensive experience and expertise of glaucoma management to further improve the service we offer to patients and commissioners, as well as develop new approaches to glaucoma management such as the virtual glaucoma clinic.
Mr Wisam Muen qualified from Manchester University in 1997, he completed a General Surgery rotation leading to the award of Diploma Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Mr Muen trained as a registrar in Ophthalmology and he was accepted to do fellowship training in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (squints in children and adults) at Bart’s and the London Hospital and then another fellowship at Addebrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
Mr Muen has expertise in the treatment of children’s eye conditions, squints in all ages and corneal problems.
Mr Sanjay Shah is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon practicing in London and Surrey. He was previously a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Epsom and St. Helier NHS trust, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and Royal London Hospital.
After graduating from St George’s Hospital Medical School with a First Class Honours Degree in Biomedical Sciences, he went on to obtain his specialist ophthalmic training at the London Teaching Hospitals and Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Mr Shah undertook a research fellowship at St Thomas’ Hospital conducting research into cataract surgery and ocular inflammation. He was awarded the Southern Ophthalmological Society Prize Medal for his work. He underwent sub-specialty training in glaucoma at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He was awarded a King’s Fund scholarship for a fellowship to visit ophthalmic centres in the USA.
He is a member of the Oxford Ophthalmological Congress and was previously a member of the London Deanery Ophthalmology Specialist Training Committee, a council member of the Royal Society of Medicine Ophthalmology Section and also a council member of the British Medical Association Ophthalmic Group Committee.
Mr Shah was initially appointed as a Consultant at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal London Hospital in 1997, where he became Lead Clinician in Ophthalmology for Audit, and Research and Development. He then moved to his Consultant post at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust where he subsequently became Ophthalmology College Tutor, an Educational Supervisor and Lead Clinician for Ophthalmology.

Currently, he is a Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist in Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospital.
